Book Covers for The Orphan's Tale
Originally, the series had only two parts, with the second, with the title Maelstrom, bringing the story to a close nearly a year after the events of Assassination. In the course of finalizing the third book, however, events that led to the summer after Assassination caught my interest. I think they will, catch yours, as well.
Maelstrom is mostly finished/ It only remains to bring the story lines together and verify that I have missed nothing. I'll be sorry to see these characters go. ...although, as any writer can tell you, some characters linger with you, and you find yourself learning more about them and their adventures after your story has drawn to a close. |
The bright building behind Elise is the Tuileries Palace. which stood opposite the Louvre until it was destroyed in 1870. She is dressed for a ball.

Meanwhile, here is the full cover for VENGEANCE:
Meanwhile, here is the full cover for VENGEANCE:
Vengeance ends Christmas Eve. Larouche has paused on his way home from the cathedral to look into a brightly lit window. Back at his lodgings, he thinks of what he has seen, a mother telling her children a story, and it seems to him that it might happen to him. some day.

Maelstrom is well underway. It has, in fact, the earliest writings I did on The Orphan's Tale but in learning of Paul Malet's past I found myself turning back to that past to explore how he came to the present. It has been enjoyable.
